Scientific Background	Survivin, or baculovirus inhibitor of apoptosis repeat-containing 5 is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis family (IAP). It functions to inhibit caspase activation. It may also play a role in regulating mitosis. It is regulated by the p53 protein, a direct target gene of the Wnt pathway, and is upregulated by beta-catenin.
